Naturalist as Artist Camp

Let ‘s learn about Maine wildlife as we create art inspired by the natural world and the museum collections. Did you know a frog makes a wonderful model? Lets catch and draw one. They love to pose for us here at the museum. For ages 6-12. Camp runs 9 AM – 2 PM, June 24 – 28. Please bring a lunch. Cost: $110.

Fish Prints

Create and take home your own artistic print of a Maine fish! Inspired by the traditional Japanese art of Gyotaku, which began as a way for fishermen to record and compare their catches—but we use replica fish instead of the real thing!

Hands-on History Camp

Let’s travel back in time and discover history through lots of hands on activities. Campers go on an archeological dig and use Native American tools like a bow drill, and atlatl /spear. Learn how Maine kids in the early 1900s would dress, play and work! For ages 6-12. Camp runs Monday – Wednesday, July 1 – 3, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Cost: $45

Maine Birds and Animals Camp

Explore the museum collections and outdoor natural areas to study and learn about local birds and animals in wetlands, forest and fields. See who is living in the pond and trees. Net some insects, dissect owl pellets, look for tracks, examine animal skulls, and more. Camp runs Mon. - Fri., July 8 - 12, 9 a.m. - Noon. For ages 6-12. Cost: $65.
