Community Matters More is now open!

The Bangor Savings Bank Foundation believes in giving back to our communities. And we believe that by focusing on the needs that matter most to our neighbors and friends we matter more in the daily lives of our fellow community members.

The Bangor Savings Bank Foundation will give more than $155,000 to 45 local nonprofit organizations in Maine and New Hampshire. In celebration of our 15th year of Community Matters More, the one nonprofit that receives the most overall votes will be awarded a $15,000 grant!

We are looking to you, our community, to assist us in deciding how to best distribute these funds. Cast your vote today for your favorite nonprofits!

Community Matters More Voting 2022

Your community. Your cause. Your choice.

A total of 45 grants will be awarded to the nonprofit organizations listed on the ballot and to the top 11 write-in vote recipients (one per region). The top vote-getting nonprofit organizations in each region, will each receive $5,000, with runner-up grants awarded as listed below.

  • First Place Grants: $5,000
  • Second Place Grants: $4,000
  • Third Place Grants: $3,000
  • Fourth Place Grants: $1,000

In celebration of our 15th year of Community Matters More, the one nonprofit that receives the most overall votes will be awarded a $15,000 grant!

  • You may submit one (1) online ballot with up to five (5) different nonprofit organizations. Votes may be for organizations on the ballot, write-ins, or a combination of both, but cannot total more than five. Votes must be for 5 different nonprofits. Duplicate ballots and ballots with more than five organizations are invalid and will be removed.
  • Voters must be Maine or New Hampshire residents.
  • To be eligible, write-in nominations must be for registered 501(c)(3) organizations and be open to all (nonsectarian).  Please see our write-in guidelines.
  • Online voting ends February 28, 2022 at 11:59:59 pm.

It strives to nurture all areas of healing – body, mind and spirit – as a week-day drop-in center for women in the community, to heal from adverse life experiences, thrive, and enrich each other's lives.

Franklin County Animal Shelter

The Franklin County Animal Shelter is a no-kill animal shelter providing loving care to the area's homeless cats and dogs.

Founded in 1911, the Hancock County SPCA is a life-saving organization committed to providing shelter and care for abandoned, stray, and surrendered animals.
