Colby College Museum of Art Mirken Coordinator of Public and Academic Programs Jordia Benjamin introduces David Driskell: In Search of the Creative Truth

Maine artist David C. Driskell has been a primary conduit for bringing African American art into the mainstream of American society. He has done so through his own artwork and writings, teachings at various universities, and by organizing and curating exhibits by artists of color. As the artist has said, “I went back to nature and relied very heavily on my natural environment as the source of inspiration in my work.” Maine has been that draw for him. This film is a part of the Maine Masters Project in Development. The film is sponsored by the Colby College Museum of Art under its Campus + Community Film Series. (Unrated, 29 min.)
