International Sun Day

June 21, 2015, 1:00 PM4:00 PM

Come celebrate the summer solstice and view the sun’s surface! In the USA and some other areas in the Northern Hemisphere, the summer solstice marks the first day of summer. At L.C. Bates, you can look through a telescope safely at our sun, try out fun sun activities, and make your own sun model to bring home. This program with something for the whole family will explore our sun and look closely at its surface. We will see flares, sunspots and more. Visitors will also be able to take pictures of the sun through the telescope.

If it's cloudy, we will have a live stream of the Solar Dynamics Observatory inside the museum. We will have some great rainy day activities that explore the sun just in case!
