Longest Night (Blue Christmas)

A special service will be offered on Friday, December 20, 4 p.m., at Pleasant Street UMC. We welcome The Tourmalines for special music during this service.
The name of this service comes from the season. But the name, “Longest Night”, also describes the feeling that a number of people have during this season. In these long, dark, winter nights, memories of past experiences and the pain of present experiences and situations can become overwhelming, especially if a “joyous holiday season” seems not to be possible this year.
In this service, we invite you to listen. We invite you to pray. We invite you to sing — or not. We invite you to meditate upon the sadness or struggles you may be facing — and we will worship together in special ways. And we trust that you will find hope and comfort in knowing that you are not alone.
