Microcosmos

May 19, 2018, 10:00 AM

Free

Microcosmos is "a documentary of insect life in meadows and ponds, using incredible close-ups, slow motion, and time-lapse photography. It includes bees collecting nectar, ladybugs eating mites, snails mating, spiders wrapping their catch, a scarab beetle relentlessly pushing its ball of dung uphill, endless lines of caterpillars, an underwater spider creating an air bubble to live in, and a mosquito hatching" -- Will Gilbert.

Suitable for the whole family, Microcosmos is rated G and is 80 minutes long. Admission is free.

Following the film, we will have a live insect presentation by Kathy Murray in our permaculture garden. Kathy is an entomologist for the state of Maine. Accompanying the event, we will also have art stations featuring insects for families to enjoy. This event is part of Arts in Bloom, a day to celebrate the arts and spring in Waterville.

Participants can pick up an Arts in Bloom passport from any participating organization on May 19 and get art stamps to fill it up.
