Music in the Museum: Folk Song and the Guitar

April 18, 2018, 12:00 PM

Free

For centuries, the guitar has been associated with folk songs, which are occasionally elevated to art song. We offer three in this program: Manuel da Falla’s “Siete canciones populares españolas” (1914), Mátyás Seiber’s “Four French Folk Songs” (1959), and Benjamin Britten’s “Folksong Arrangements” (1961).

Location: Alex Katz Gallery, Colby Museum of Art.

Sponsored by the Department of Music.
