SEED: The Untold Story

September 16, 2016, 6:50 PM

On Friday evening, Will Bonsall will introduce the evening show and Fedco Seeds will provide free seed packets to ticket buyers!

SEED: The Untold Story is a feature-length documentary featuring Vandana Shiva, Dr. Jane Goodall, Andrew Kimbell, and Winona LaDuke, following passionate seed keepers protecting our 12,000-year old food legacy. In the last century, 94% of our seed varieties have disappeared. As biotech chemical companies control the majority of our seeds, farmers, scientists, lawyers, and indigenous seed keepers fight a David and Goliath battle to defend the future of our food. In a harrowing and heartening story, these reluctant heroes—including Central Maine’s Will Bonsall, who is prominently featured in this fascinating and important film—rekindle a lost connection to our most treasured resource and revive a culture connected to seeds. (Unrated. 93 Min.)

An audience favorite at this year’s MIFF! Screenings continue daily through Thursday at 2:50, 4:50 and 6:50, with matinees Saturday and Sunday at 12:50 but no 4:50 show on Saturday.
