In 2016 the Sustain Mid Maine Coalition launched Solarize Mid Maine, a bulk purchasing program that helped reduce the cost of installing solar for local homes and businesses. Solarize Mid Maine is bringing the American Solar Energy Society's National Solar Tour through the greater Waterville area on Sunday, October 7th as solar energy system owners open their doors to the public.
Participants will be able to see firsthand how these systems interact with a building's electrical system, can talk with owners about their experiences with solar, and will be able to talk with local solar professionals about the ins and outs of the technology, local energy policy, and opportunities for utilizing solar for offsetting utility demand, reducing heating costs, and powering electric vehicles.
The tour is designed to allow folks to visit five different sites in the area in one day or to join in at the sites that are most convenient.
