Tanabata Cosplay

July 7, 2018, 11:00 AM2:00 PM

Free

MACE (Maine Association of Cosplay Enthusiasts), Cirque du Geek, and the Waterville Public Library are teaming up again to bring a festival themed meetup to Maine! Tanabata, also known as the star festival, is a Japanese celebration where people come together to celebrate by making wishes tied to trees and participate in traditional bon dances. As such, we'll be writing our wishes and tying them to bamboo and trying our annual bon dance! This is great time to break out those traditional Japanese style cosplays!

What would a festival be like without food? As usual, MACE will be doing its potluck tradition, so feel free to bring some treats to share! Please just label allergens!

When you get there, please remember the following:

  • Please check in with an admin to get signed in.
  • Leave prop weapons at home. The Waterville Public Library has strict rules that will be enforced.
  • If you see or hear something that makes you feel uncomfortable, please talk to an administrator immediately so it can be addressed.
