Taste of Waterville

August 7, 2019

Taste of Waterville has been held annually every August since 1992. Each summer one can find a line-up of food trucks and restaurants offering their most popular dishes in the downtown. This foodie event is loved by locals and it is a tasteful family-friendly event showcasing the regions culinary flavors with a little bit of something for everyone.

This year Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce is encouraging community engagement by inviting area agency nonprofits to plan a family-friendly event or activity, preferably around food or physical activity, to attract people to the downtown area as well as support their nonprofit. Events scheduled include:

  • Humane Society Waterville Area -- food drive & adoption event at the Bill and Joan Alfond  Main St. Commons, Chace Forum from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Children’s Discovery Museum’s mobile museum exhibit at REM, 31 Temple St., from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. where REM will again be offering their popular Ice Cream Brownie Sandwiches!
  • Waterville Public Library --Weird Science Wednesday -Tasty STEM (science, technology, engineering & math) with Peter the Cat at 1 p.m.
  • Waterville Creates!/Common Street Arts – fun and fabulous food sculptures in the Bill and Joan Alfond Main St. Commons 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Alfond Youth Center brings former Red Sox players including Mike Timlin to Castonguay Square for free autographs and pictures after a parade on Main St. at 5 p.m.

This year’s event also introduces a second beer & wine tent just in time for dining under the stars, The Chevy Luxury Lounge, on Main Street from 5 -9PM. Grab your dinner and bring it to the Chevy Luxury Lounge to dine and enjoy the full-service bar and live music. There will be a beer tent in The Concourse much like years past with live music and beverages. Bite booths begin at 11AM and restaurants start serving at 5PM.

Entertainment this year on Main Street includes live music by Downeast Brass & Meryia Michaud. In the Concourse will be Six Day Sinner, Michael Reny on piano and Maine’s beloved Elvis impersonator Don Boudreau.

Amici’s Meatball Eating Contest will begin at 7:30 PM at 137 Main Street. Cancun’s Kickin’ Wing Eating Contest will begin at 7:00 PM at 14 Silver Street.
