An event every day that begins at 10:00 AM, repeating until February 9, 2020

$6.50 – $8.00

Director Feras Fayyad (Oscar-nominated Last Man in Aleppo) returns to war-torn Syria to follow a devoted team of healthcare providers unstintingly treating casualties in a hospital buried to protect it from bombing. Shot from 2016 to 2018, “THE CAVE” takes us to a subterranean network of secret tunnels under the city of Ghouta, near Damascus. Confined by the omnipresent danger above ground, the staff, led by Dr. Amani, a young pediatrician who also serves as hospital director, provides care and hope for their patients despite bombings, battle injuries, the illness endemic to life in a war zone, chronically short supplies, and—for the female staff—a deeply embedded systemic sexism. They manage with great humor and fortitude. The People’s Choice winner for Best Documentary at the Toronto International Film Festival. Running time: 95 minutes.
