SUMMARY:Opening Reception for what could have been\, what is\, what could be
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for the opening reception of Verónica Pérez’s exhibition what could have been\, what is\, what could be. The reception will take place in conjunction with the Maine International Film Festival. \nIn this world\, there exist voices that we long to hear\, echoing love and loss. These concepts intertwine with our history\, forming braiding circles of memories. This exhibition\, through community workshops called braiding circles\, artist Verónica Pérez uplifts the values of remembering\, honoring\, and preserving stories through sculptures made from hair and other materials. \nThese communities drew from every corner of their dreams\, memories\, and emotions to capture what could have been\, what is\, and what could be. \nThis exhibit runs July 1 – August 24. The gallery is open Wed. – Mon.\, 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. The gallery is closed on Tuesdays and federal holidays.

SUMMARY:Happiness Is a Warm Extruder
DESCRIPTION:Date: Sunday\, July 12 at 10am—4pm \nOrganization: Ticonic Gallery + Studios \nVenue: Art of Clay Studio\, Paul J. Schupf Art Center\, 93 Main Street\, Waterville \nThis event is eligible for the Youth Arts Access Fund. \nHayne Bayless will lead this workshop where we'll explore extruding and slab techniques as we consider making a number of functional stoneware forms. Our approach will be mindful of letting these processes show in the work; if we keep out of clay’s way\, it can reveal its essence\, and the results will be fresh and lively. We’ll use unconventional forming methods and unusual approaches to surface decoration\, including stencils\, stretched slabs\, and slip inlay. Myths will be busted and secrets revealed. \nHayne is a studio potter in Ivoryton\, Connecticut. He abandoned throwing early on\, lured by the freedom of hand-building. Other than lessons from a potter in Tokyo when he was 19\, and later a handful of workshops\, he managed to avoid any formal instruction in ceramics. He sells work through galleries and at craft shows\, and has won the top awards at the Smithsonian Craft Show and the Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show. In the studio he likes to keep in mind the words of sculptor Constantin Brancusi: "Each material has its own life ... we must not try to make materials speak our language\, we must go with them to the point where others will understand their language.” \nAge: Adults 18+\nLimit: 10 participants \nMore Info and Tickets

SUMMARY:Alice Limoges & missofija
DESCRIPTION:🌟 Live Music At The Playhouse: Alice Limoges & missofija \nTwo extraordinary voices. One unforgettable night. \nJoin us at The Playhouse at Waterville Station on July 18\, 2026 at 7pm for an intimate double‑bill featuring two of Maine’s most compelling rising artists: Alice Limoges and missofija. \n🎶 Alice Limoges (Alicelimoges.com)\nAlice Limoges has been singing since before she could walk. Whether performing her award winning  poetic songs about love and nature\, or shining a light on mental health\, Alice Limoges’s canon is lit up by her storytelling\, unique\, soulful voice and textural instrumentals. She has released 6 original albums/EPs\, toured festivals and colleges across North America\, and even performed on Jon Samson’s Grammy Award winning album. She placed in the 2021 International Songwriting Contest and won the 2025 Maine Songwriting Contest. \n🎶 missofija (https://www.missofija.com)\nAfter writing her first song at 3 years old\, missofija never looked back.  missofija’s unique sound is inspired by her background as an opera singer and the folk songs of her Lithuanian upbringing. You’ll come for the hauntingly beautiful melodies and stay for raw\, vulnerable lyrics. She uses profound\, symbolic lyrics\, intricate melodies\, and complex harmonic structures to send chills through every audience she performs for. \n✨ Together\, these two artists bring an evening of raw honesty\, soaring vocals\, and original music that lingers long after the last note. \ntickets

SUMMARY:An Evening with Patty Griffin & Kathleen Edwards
DESCRIPTION:Date: Wednesday\, July 22 at 7:30pm \nVenue: Waterville Opera House\, 1 Common Street\, Waterville\, Maine \nOrganization: Waterville Opera House \nThis event is eligible for the Youth Arts Access Fund. \nPatty Griffin \nPatty Griffin is among the most consequential singer-songwriters of her generation\, a quintessentially American artist whose wide-ranging canon incisively explores the intimate moments and universal emotions that bind us together. \nOver two decades\, the two-time GRAMMY® Award winner—and seven-time nominee—and Americana Music Association Lifetime Achievement award winner\, has crafted a remarkable body of work in progress that prompted The New York Times to hail her for “cameo-carved songs that create complete emotional portraits of specific people…songs have independent lives that continue in your head when the music ends.” Having crafted a rich catalog that chronicles love and death\, heartache and joy\, connection and detachment\, Patty Griffin continues to push her art forward\, as always imbuing every effort with compassion and craft\, uncanny perception\, and ever-increasing ingenuity. \nKathleen Edwards \nAcclaimed singer\, songwriter\, and performer Kathleen Edwards returns with her highly anticipated new album\, Billionaire\, on Dualtone Records. Evoking her debut\, Failer\, the new 10-song album is full of Edwards' trademark lyrical sharpness and unflinching observations and was produced by Jason Isbell and Gena Johnson. \nCelebrated as one of the forebears of modern alt-country and Americana music\, Edwards is beloved by fans and fellow musicians\, and praised by The New York Times for her "droll\, observant and unsparing tone that is all her own. In her best lines\, Edwards has the conversational vernacular and emotional eloquence of a great short-story writer." \nTICKETS + INFO

When a group of astronauts comes through town\, Curly Hare comes up with their kookiest stunt ever – to be the first animals on the moon! Well\, talking animals\, anyway.
