DESCRIPTION:Dates: March 5–7\, 2026 \nOrganization: Colby Music \nVenue: Gordon Center for Creative and Performing Arts\, Colby College \nFree \nComing to Colby from March 5 to March 7\, 2026\, SPLICE Festival VII is a three-day festival that blends engaging live performances with new technologies. Composers\, performers\, and composer/performers gather for a weekend of concerts and presentations covering topics such as aesthetics\, technology\, and issues of performance practice\, with the goal of inspiring\, educating\, and sharing information amongst the attendees and the students at the host institution. SPLICE Festival is designed to foster community and to create bonds between performers and composers dedicated to music that involves dynamic\, live performance with technology. \nSPLICE Festival will include five concerts\, along with presentations and hands-on workshop sessions. Concerts will feature performances selected from submitted works and a curated concert by the SPLICE Ensemble in partnership with the Portland Ballet. \nPresentations and workshops are open to Colby College students\, festival attendees\, and the general community of Waterville. DESCRIPTION:A local Maine educator will share her experience from her recent trip to the West Bank as a volunteer with the International Solidarity Movement (ISM).  Moriah will be joining us to speak about her observations and first-hand experience as an observer in Masafer Yatta\, an area of 20 small villages in the mountains of the West Bank. She will share with us video footage and her reflections on the developing situation\, and speak about her experience observing and documenting daily life in that community. \nThe talk will be held Monday\, March 9th at Noon at the Chace Forum in downtown Waterville! \nThe Mid-Maine Global Forum will be providing cookies and coffee for the event.
