Out & Allied Youth Theatre

Out & Allied Youth Theatre logoOut & Allied is a troupe of artists who use theatre

to share their stories, build community,

and address issues of social justice.

Out & Allied meets every Sunday at REM, 31 Temple St., Waterville.

Theatre Group meets 10am – 12pm and Peer Support Group meets 12pm – 2pm. Both groups are a safe space, open to queer youth and their allies in grades 4-12, college students, and college-aged adults.

Original Productions

Each year, Out & Allied Youth Theatre creates and performs an original production. It is written during Theatre Group and those who attend collaboratively write and create the play.

Stonewall: Then and Now is a collection of music, drama, and poetry celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising. Designed to honor the progress made in LGBTQ+ rights and visibility since 1969, the show explores and celebrates art by, about, and for queer folk and their experiences.

Summer Theatre Camp

Out & Allied Youth Theatre conducts two 3-week summer theatre camps for students in grades 4-12. This year, Out & Allied is doing it’s first original musical! The campers collaboratively write play, develop their characters, and learn about and/or participate in all technical aspects of a production.

Peer Support

This is a safe space to share aspects of yourself with others. Topics range from school and life experiences, personal celebrations and struggles, and especially our creative works such as poetry, art pieces, or other writings. Peer support consists of activities such as board or card games, video games, baking, painting and more.

Workshops & Technical Assistance

Out & Allied Youth Theatre conducts theatre-based workshops at statewide conferences at least three times a year. We have facilitated workshops for faith-based organizations, public school and college faculty and students, and community organizations.

Out & Allied is available for technical assistance. We have worked with a local high school’s Civil Rights Team to improve the culture and climate of their school.
