United Way – Stronger Partnerships for a Stronger Community
Waterville, ME— United Way of Mid-Maine, having over 60 years experience partnering with local businesses to address the pressing needs of the people living, working, and learning in the Heart of Maine, has announced the expansion of these collaborative efforts with the launching of a new “365 Small Business Circle” program.
While larger businesses have traditionally provided significant support to the community by hosting workplace campaigns to strengthen the work of United Way, there has not been a formal program to engage smaller businesses in these same community-building opportunities. This program is designed for small businesses (35 employees or less) to become member-supporters by donating $365 or more per year. For just one dollar a day, small business owners can join the circle of other small businesses wanting to leverage their combined power to make a concerted impact in improving the quality of life in Somerset, Northern Kennebec, and Western Waldo Counties.
Participating businesses identify their commitment to community development by displaying a UWMM 365 Business Circle Member badge (vinyl cling for their business front and electronically for websites and social media) to let their customers and clients know they are committed to creating positive outcomes and change for families and individuals in mid-Maine. The program also provides benefits for its members, including increased visibility through UWMM’s website, social media, and other marketing avenues.
Over 96% of the state of Maine’s private workforce works in small businesses. This investment is a simple way to powerfully harness this segment of the local economy and make a meaningful contribution to address pressing social needs in the local community through UWMM’s annual campaign. Joining the 365 Small Business Circle connects small business owners, bringing together individuals with the passion to create lasting, positive change.
United Way of Mid-Maine thanks GHM Insurance Agency and the Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce for committing to be UWMM’s 365 Small Business Circle’s founding members.
