These events take place every week (or nearly every week*) at the same time and place. (*Note: Any event listed below may be suspended during the summer or school vacations, during snowstorms or when snow is forecast, or when the event’s regular meeting time falls on or near a major holiday.)

For Younger Children

Crafternoons
Looking for a way to brighten up your child’s day? Bring them on down to the Library for Crafternoons! Drop in anytime between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. every Tuesday to participate in a fun craft! Children under 7 must be accompanied by a grown-up helper. Check our Children’s Calendar for pictures of each week’s craft!
Lego Builder Challenge Day
Drop by the Children’s Dept. between 2:30 and 4:00 every Wednesday to test your engineering skills with a new challenge! Recommended for kids 5 and up. Kids younger than 7 must bring a grownup helper. Check our Children’s Calendar for pictures of each week’s challenge!
Rhymetime for Babies, Toddlers, and Their Grownups
Babies are born ready to learn! By singing, clapping, and sharing stories with their grownups, children from birth to age 3 gain valuable skills and knowledge for later learning success. Join us for a half-hour of active fun every Friday, 10:30 – 11:00 a.m., in the Children’s Room!
Family Story Time
Join us in the Colby Program Room on Saturdays, 10:30 – 11:00 a.m., for stories, songs, activities, puppet shows for the whole family. We have something different every week, and sometimes, we have special guests.

For Teens

Teen Maker Mondays
Join us in the Bartlett Room for Teens and make something amazing! Every Monday at 3:00 p.m. we’ll be creating something new. We provide the supplies; you bring the creativity! Check our Teen Calendar for a sample of each week’s craft.
Teen Game Night
Every Monday, 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm, in the Bartlett Room for Teens, there will be board games available, as well as games for the Library’s Wii and PS3! This program is free, and open to attendees under the age of 18. Light refreshments will be provided.
Teen Movie Night
Join us in the Bartlett Room for Teens at 4:00 p.m. every Thursday for a screening of a popular movie! The movie changes every week. These events are free, and open to attendees under the age of 18. Light refreshments will be provided. Check the Library’s Calendar or call to learn which movie we’ll be showing.

For Adults

Job Search Lab
The Job Search Lab is for job seekers of all backgrounds. You can get ideas to improve your job search, work on your resume/cover letter, and learn about education and training options available in our area. No appointment is necessary — just drop in! Every Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. – Noon, in the Colby Program Room. Staffed by Augusta CareerCenter, Mid-Maine Regional Adult Community Education, and New Ventures Maine.
Job Seeking Help
Employment Support Specialist Dana Hamilton of the Kennebec Valley Community Action program provides assistance with job search activities. This free service is available on Tuesdays, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., by appointment only, in the Lunder Conference Room. Sign up for a time slot with Dana by stopping by the Information Services Desk in the Library or calling 207-680-2603.

Richard Simmons Workout

Get Up & Go
Thursdays, 12:00 – 12:45 p.m. with Robin Maginn, Advanced Senior Personal Trainer and Group Exercise Instructor. Get Up & Go is a class of basic, functional exercises that can be done either standing or sitting. Be on your way to better health and a more active life! Fee: $5.00. Computer Lessons
Tuesdays, at 10:00 a.m. & 11:00 a.m. Learn the basics of email, Internet, Facebook, Kindle, iPad, and more! $7 per lesson. Please call 873-4745 to schedule your personal 45-minute appointment. Pre-registration is required.
Speak French Social Hour
Wednesdays, 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Do you speak French but only have a few people to converse with? If so, join our Speak French Social Hour. Call 873-4745 to join in the fun! Fee: $3.00 (Includes coffee and muffins.)

Breastfeeding Support Group

Tree of HOPE Postpartum Support Group
One in seven mothers feel sad and irritable during pregnancy and postpartum, and fathers can feel down and anxious too. You are not alone! There is hope – and it begins with a simple thought – being a good parent includes taking care of yourself. If you take care of yourself, you will be able to take better care of your baby and your family. Please join us every Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. – noon, and/or the last Saturday of the month, 9:00 – 11:00, for an honest and safe place to listen, talk, and gain education on postpartum experiences.
