Young Stewards Summer Program

Viles Arboretum, with the support of the Children’s Discovery Museum of Central Maine, is creating a brand-new opportunity for area youth. Get ready to get your hands dirty as we explore the lush 224 acres of preserved land and 20 botanical collections at Viles Arboretum in Augusta. Led by Lauren Kircheis, Viles Arboretum Land Steward and trained Wildlife Biologist, this summer program will give children the chance to become scientists for the week. Children will collect samples, use tools like microscopes, learn real-life survey techniques and more. Coupled with summer camp classics like group games, arts and crafts, and time to just explore the woods, this week is a celebration of the great outdoors. Program is run by Viles Arboretum staff.
