Downtown Waterville Opportunity Zone Workshop
January 10, 2019, 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM
FreeDowntown Waterville is home to one of Maine's 32 Opportunity Zones, the nation's newest tax incentive to encourage investment and growth in economically-distressed areas. With over $100 million invested in recent downtown Waterville projects, the program looks to leverage existing investments and major revitalization efforts already underway.
Governed by the IRS, the Opportunity Zone (OZ) program provides significant benefits to investors, but requires legal and financial sophistication to fully realize its potential. This free workshop will provide interested developers and investors with the information necessary to succeed in Waterville's OZ, including:
- A geospatial overview of land and property within the Waterville OZ
- OZ program overview and guidance from the IRS*
- Insight from Wipfli|Macpage CPAs (tax division)
- How to maximize tax incentives via an Opportunity Fund
The Central Maine Growth Council looks forward to the prosperity, job growth, and redevelopment made possible through the OZ program, and we welcome you as partners in the next chapter of Waterville's revitalization. Refreshments will be provided.
*Pending approval, which may be delayed due to the partial federal government shutdown. IRS attendance may be affected by government shutdown.
