One Night Only!

Truly made for the big screen, Stanley Kubrick’s masterpiece follows Dr. Dave Bowman, Dr. Frank Poole, and their increasingly nefarious HAL 9000 computer as they embark on a space mission to determine the origin of a mysterious monolith. Kubrick's deliberate shots along with the classical score (temporary tracks used in the editing process, that Kubrick decided to keep for the final film) give the captivating story the ability to inspire and provoke profound thoughts about humanity, decision-making, and the desire for meaning. 2001 subverts genre expectations of science-fiction: "[Kubrick made] a philosophical statement about man's place in the universe, using images as those before him had used words, music or prayer. And he had made it in a way that invited us to contemplate it – not to experience it vicariously as entertainment, as we might in a good conventional science-fiction film, but to stand outside it as a philosopher might, and think about it" –Roger Ebert.
