Join us for a free screening of A Song for Cesar, a feature-length documentary that tells a previously untold story about musicians and artists—including Joan Baez, Maya Angelou, and Carlos Santana—who dedicated their time, creativity and reputations to peacefully advance Cesar Chavez’s movement to gain equality and justice for America’s suffering farmworkers. Before the film, Montgoris Assistant Professor of Government Carrie LeVan will briefly speak about her personal connections to Chicanx labor movements.

This screening is inspired by the exhibition Radical Histories: Chicanx Prints from the Smithsonian American Art Museum, on view February 6 through June 8 at the Colby College Museum of Art.

Frame by Frame is a collaborative program of the Colby College Museum of Art and the Maine Film Center. Film screenings are paired with speakers or programs that connect what we see on the big screen to what happens in the museum.
