Congratulations to Lauren Lessing, Mirken Curator of Education at the Colby Museum, and Tanya Sheehan, Associate Professor of Art, for the publication of their research articles in the Fall 2014 issue of the Journal of American Art, published by the Smithsonian American Art Museum.

Lessing's essay, "Theatrical Mayhem in Junius Brutus Stearns's 'Hannah Duston Killing the Indians'" focuses on a 19th-century genre painting at the Colby College Museum of Art. Sheehan also discusses an artwork in Colby's collection (Jacob Lawrence's "Often Three Families Share One Toilet") in "Confronting Taboo: Photography and the Art of Jacob Lawrence."

Please join the Colby Museum in celebrating their publications with gallery talks by Lessing and Sheehan.
