Bard’s Birthday Bash
April 21, 2018, 10:00 AM – 9:00 PM
FreeBelieve it or not Recycled Shakespeare Company is about to hold our FIFTH annual Bard's Birthday Bash to celebrate Shakespeare! REM was part of the very first one and several others so we hope you will take part this year.
We invite you to join in this community celebration and have some Shakespearian fun on Saturday, April 21, 2018. All 154 of Shakespeares sonnets will be read by RSC members and the public.
Everyone is invited to take part. We welcome readers of sonnets, reciters of monologues, actors of scenes, singers of songs, musicians of Elizabethan Era tunes and just everyone who would like to participate. We welcome foreign language readers too! After all, Shakespeare has been translated into 80 languages including Klingon!
To top off strolling through downtown Waterville with readings in many eateries and shops we will have an extended period at Common Street Arts. And, per tradition, we will be at Selah Tea from 2:00 t0 5:00 p.m.
A masquerade ball will follow from 7:00 to 9:00 with all dances taught by The Barletts. No experience or partner required. And, naturally, there will be cake. Come, party like it's 1599!
The whole event is free and open to all ages. (Sadly, though, the Blue Wave studio is in an old building and not wheelchair accessible.)
You may join us for the whole day or sign up for a time slot. You may chose a favorite sonnet or you can have one chosen for you. You do not have to memorize! Please note if you want to do a monologue or scene or something special. Costumes are not required but we love them, so if you do too, absolutely wear a costume!
For details go to www.signupforms.com/registrations/13010.
