Colby’s 198th Commencement
May 26, 2019, 10:00 AM – 12:15 PM
FreeColby’s 198th Commencement begins at 10 a.m. when Colby’s Class of 2019, with approximately 460 members, will receive degrees from President David A. Greene. A majority of the graduates have studied abroad and have completed internships and significant scholarly research.
Commencement speaker David E. Kelley has created several visionary, award-winning dramas, from Ally McBeal to Big Little Lies. A native of Waterville and son of legendary Colby hockey coach Jack Kelley, he applies his legal education to the craft of writing compelling dialogue, challenging audiences with provocative story lines and creating complex female characters that illuminate issues related to women’s lives.
The ceremony is open to the public. Seats are reserved for family and guests of the graduating class and special guests of the College, but others are welcome to observe from outside the seating area. Lawn chairs are permitted. If inclement weather moves the ceremony to an alternative location on campus, tickets are required for admittance, but those without tickets may watch the proceedings live-streamed in other on-campus venues.
