On the Road: Rail Trail and Circling the Square Gallery
July 30, 2020, 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM
FreeThis week we visit lovely Gardiner, Maine, where the Kennebec Rail Trail and Circling the Square gallery are located.
The 6.5 mile Kennebec River Rail Trail welcomes locals and visitors alike for walking, running, cycling, skateboarding, rollerblading, and dog walking. The trail is 10 feet wide, making physical distancing easy to maintain! The trail parallels the existing rail bed along the Kennebec River, and stretches from Augusta’s Waterfront Park, through the towns of Hallowell and Farmingdale, to its conclusion in the city of Gardiner, Maine! We will explore the beauty of the rail trail beginning in Gardiner. ( for more information: www.krrt.org)
We will also visit the Circling the Square gallery, in downtown Gardiner. This gallery supports artists working at Circling the Square press, located in the same building. We will chat with some of the artists and see the new Covid “quilt”, a giant wheat paste project installed on the building outside.
Tune in to our Facebook Page at 3pm Thursday and look for our Facebook premiere! The video will also be saved in our video section for viewing at any time after the Facebook premiere.
Many of us are lamenting the limitations of travel this summer. Thankfully we live in a state of extreme beauty with many fascinating places to visit. Here at WC!, we realize there are numerous destinations off the beaten path where we can explore Maine’s incredible art, artists, and natural landscape. The On the Road series is designed to explore areas that are art destinations in their own right and/or sites where we can create our own works of art.
