SUMMARY:Slab Building at the Salmon Summit
DESCRIPTION:Date: Saturday\, June 13 at 10am–4pm \nOrganization: Ticonic Gallery + Studios \nVenue: Art of Clay Studio\, Paul J. Schupf Art Center\, 93 Main Street\, Waterville \nThis event is eligible for the Youth Arts Access Fund. \nJoin ceramic artist Benjamin Lambert for a one-day\, hands-on workshop focused on turning flat images into three-dimensional\, illustrative sculptures. You’ll learn how to create simple paper templates using photographs and sketches\, then use those templates with clay slabs to build expressive fish forms. Together\, we’ll shape and manipulate “blanks” based on Maine fish species into creatures with distinct personalities\, explore construction methods for both wall-hanging and free-standing pieces\, and talk through the materials and finishing processes Ben uses to complete his ceramic work. \nRaised along the banks of the Androscoggin River in Greene\, Maine\, Benjamin grew up both captivated by its natural beauty and aware of its long history of pollution. What began as a concern for that single river gradually broadened into an ongoing awareness of water-based pollution more generally—rivers\, watersheds\, and coastal systems shaped by industry\, runoff\, and environmental neglect. This perspective continues to guide his work\, as he uses clay to create an uncanny sense of beauty while quietly advocating for stewardship\, care\, and a more responsible relationship with the natural world. \nAge: Adults 18+\nLimit: 12 participants\nCost: $76\nPrice includes a $1 handling fee. A portion of all ticket fees are designated to support the Youth Arts Access Fund. \nThis event is eligible for the Youth Arts Access Fund. \nMore Info and Register

SUMMARY:Met Opera Encore: El ÚLtimo Sueño de Frida y Diego
DESCRIPTION:The Metropolitan Opera’s 2025–26 Live in HD season comes to a close with American composer Gabriela Lena Frank’s first opera\, El ÚLtimo Sueño de Frida y Diego (“The Last Dream of Frida and Diego”)\, a magical-realist portrait of Mexico’s painterly power couple Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera\, with libretto by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Nilo Cruz. \nFashioned as a reversal of the Orpheus and Euridice myth\, the story depicts Frida\, sung by leading mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard\, leaving the underworld on the Day of the Dead and reuniting with Diego\, portrayed by baritone Carlos Álvarez. The famously feuding pair briefly relive their tumultuous love\, embracing both the passion and the pain before bidding the land of the living a final farewell. \nMusic Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts the Met-premiere staging of Frank’s opera\, a “confident\, richly imagined score” (The New Yorker) that “bursts with color and fresh individuality” (Los Angeles Times). The vibrant new production\, taking enthusiastic inspiration from Frida and Diego’s paintings\, is directed and choreographed by Deborah Colker. \nThis screening is a high-definition broadcast from the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. All Met Opera Encore shows > \nTickets: $16-19. This screening is eligible for the Youth Arts Access Fund. \ntickets  trailer

SUMMARY:A Very Special Evening With Karla Bonoff
DESCRIPTION:Date: Saturday\, June 13 at 8pm \nOrganization: Waterville Opera House \nVenue: Waterville Opera House\, 1 Common Street\, Waterville\, Maine \nThis event is eligible for the Youth Arts Access Fund. \nKarla Bonoff has been described as one of the finest singer/songwriters of her generation. That description is not hyperbole. Bonoff has enjoyed critical acclaim\, commercial success\, enduring popularity\, and the unwavering respect of her peers. Karla has seen her songs become hits for Bonnie Raitt\, Wynonna Judd\, and Linda Ronstadt. Many of Bonoff’s ballads are classics. \nKarla has continued to record and tour extensively\, playing sold-out shows around the world. Hearing Karla’s moving vocals on her rich\, expressive songs is like standing beneath a sparkling waterfall–refreshing\, exhilarating\, and restorative. Experiencing them live can be transformative. Many prefer her versions\, live with instrumentation that is clean and spare\, giving Bonoff’s voice room to work its emotional magic. \nTICKETS + INFO
