Schupf Art Center\, 93 Main Street\, Waterville \nThis event is eligible for the Youth Arts Access Fund. \nA two-part Hand-Building & Raku Workshop \nJoin us for an exciting two-part workshop where students will learn how to use a clay extruder and participate in a raku firing! In the first session\, instructor Pam Wilcox will guide students in creating their own extruded dried-flower vase. During the second session\, participants will glaze their pieces and experience the thrill of firing them in our outdoor raku kiln. \nRaku firing is an exciting\, unpredictable\, and immersive process that takes place outside the studio. Students should be prepared to spend time outdoors and will be working near fire and smoke\, so please dress accordingly. Finished work may be taken home at the end of the second class. The capstone event of the 2026 Dirigo Labs Accelerator will bring twelve Maine founders to the stage to pitch live for $25\,000 in cash prizes generously donated by Skowhegan Savings Bank. Three other distinguished individuals will receive honorary degrees at the ceremony: \n\nNathaniel Fick\, inaugural U.S. ambassador at large for the State Department’s Bureau of Cyberspace and Digital Policy;\nDr. Melissa Gilliam\, president of Boston University and acclaimed scientist; and\nEsther Salas\, U.S. District Judge for the District of New Jersey\, and the first Latina to hold this position in the state\, who will have given the Baccalaureate address to the graduates\, their families\, and invited guests the day before.\n\nCommencement is open to the public with general admission seating. Standing room will also be available on Miller Lawn. There is no limit to how many people graduating seniors may invite.
