United Way of Mid-Maine is Hiring

United Way of Mid-Mane is seeking a Full time Resource Development Manager and a part time Clerical Assistant, job descriptions below. Interested candidates should submit their cover letter and resume to Al Smith, asmith@uwmm.org.

The Resource Development Manager manages all campaign and fundraising initiatives for United Way of Mid-Maine and is primarily responsible for the annual fundraising campaign. The person in this position provides primary staff support for the Campaign Champions Team and the Campaign Champions Chairs. Strong organizational, planning and analytical skills as well as keen attention to detail are required. Must possess the ability to motivate and work well with many types of people, both staff and volunteers. Year-round donor and volunteer relationship-building is critical. This position requires leadership ability, professionalism, excellent oral and written communication skills, and to coordinate and support community events. This individual must be able to establish a broad level of understanding, acceptance, and giving for the United Way of Mid-Maine.

Remote work from within Somerset County/Kennebec county may be allowed. But successful candidate MUST have close access to Somerset/Northern Kennebec Counties.

This is a salaried exempt position with competitive pay and benefit package.


  • BA/BS degree or equivalent education/experience. Preferred area of experience in Resource Development, Fundraising, and/or Marketing and Communications.
  • Two to four years experience in fundraising or resource development is preferred. Experience in a United Way or non-profit organization is also preferred.
  • Additional experience in marketing, volunteer management, project management, training, and communications is desirable.
  • Must have a solid grasp of computers, including word-processing, database platforms, and spreadsheets. Web design experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge a plus.

Pay: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year

United Way of Mid-Maine is also looking to hire a part time Clerical Assistant:
The Clerical Assistant provides support for all aspects of United Way of Mid-Maine’s fundraising and marketing. The person in this position will provide in-office support to all staff and assist with campaign, marketing, finance, and program tasks as requested. This position requires a level of professionalism, attention to detail, and solid written and verbal communication skills.
Provide a variety of administrative support for UWMM’s fundraising and marketing as well as programs and events. Answer and direct incoming calls and meet and greet people coming into the office. Assist with printing, collating, preparing, and sending mailings and other documents. Help maintain up-to-date and accurate information on all active donors and volunteers. As requested, perform data entry on donor and volunteer management systems.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience is required.
  • Experience with computer applications including word-processing, database platforms, and spreadsheets.
  • Some experience in fundraising, resource development, customer service, or public relations is useful.
The Clerical Assistant position as described is a Part-Time Position. The position is 20 hours per week; However, the weekly schedule requests may vary depending on UWMM’s community activities and events in any given week. Part-Time employees are not eligible for benefits from United Way of Mid-Maine.
