Their music is a genre-blending masterpiece\, fusing rock\, soul\, and funk into a distinct sound that has garnered both critical acclaim and a devoted fan base. SUMMARY:Gipsy Kings Featuring Tonino Baliardo
DESCRIPTION: Gipsy Kings Featuring Tonino Baliardo - Historia Tour\nDate: Friday\, March 27 at 7:30pm \nOrganization: Waterville Opera House \nVenue: Waterville Opera House\, 1 Common Street\, Waterville\, Maine \nThis event is eligible for the Youth Arts Access Fund. \nTonino Baliardo is the founder and leader of Gipsy Kings\, but above all he is a guitar virtuoso and a composer recognized worldwide. He composed and produced the greatest hits of the group such as “Bamboleo” or “Djobi Djoba”. \nUndisputed masters of gypsy music\, the group has sold over 20 million albums worldwide and has been awarded numerous gold\, platinum and diamond discs\, a music victory in 1990 and a Grammy Award in 2013 in the Best World Music category for the album “Savor Flamenco”. He also collaborated on the film “The Big Lebowski” by remixing “Hotel California”\, and on “Toy Story III”\, the Disney Pixar animated film with “You’ve Got a Friend in Me”. \nMost recently Tonino was awarded a platinum record for his duet with Takagi Ketra and a triple platinum record with “Ingobernable” in a duet with Tangana. \nHe has performed in the most prestigious concert halls around the world: Radio City in New York\, the Hollywood Bowl or the Greek Theater in Los Angeles\, but also the Royal Albert Hall in London or the Olympia in Paris. Tonino said in an interview “We started in Saint Tropez with our guitars and since then\, we have travelled around the world. Music has no borders and our music is universal”. This must be the secret to 30 years of success: an eternity in the world of music. If the story written by the Gipsy Kings and Tonino Baliardo draws its sources from the gypsy tradition\, it is resolutely geared towards the future and targets all generations. \nFamily and transmission are essential values in the eyes of Tonino who has been accompanied by his two sons Mikaël and Cosso Baliardo since 2014. \nToday\, he continues to travel the world to share a music which is unique to him. \nTICKETS + INFO

SUMMARY:The Irish Tenors
DESCRIPTION:Date: Friday\, March 20 at 8pm \nOrganization: Waterville Opera House \nVenue: Waterville Opera House\, 1 Common Street\, Waterville\, Maine \nThis event is eligible for the Youth Arts Access Fund. \nThe Irish Tenors have been touring together since 1998\, with sold-out shows at Radio City Music Hall\, Sydney Opera House\, Carnegie Hall\, The Hollywood Bowl\, and major concert halls throughout the world. Their faces and voices are familiar to PBS audiences through several specials\, including the “Ellis Island” recordings that sold a million CDs and DVDs. \nSince they first joined voices in 1998\, The Irish Tenors have made countless traditional treasures breathe with new life. Moreover\, they’ve proven themselves gifted interpreters of a wide range of material\, with such songs as “My Heart Will Go On” (from Titanic)\, “Fairytale Of New York”(previously recorded by Kirsty MacColl and The Pogues) and even Jimmy Kennedy’s “South Of The Border (Down Mexico Way)”. \nThey are surely versatile\, but for many\, Anthony Kearns\, Ronan Tynan\, and Patrick Hyland are synonymous with Irish music. There is an aching bittersweet quality to much of Ireland’s musical heritage\, a melodic loveliness and emotional intensity that brings a tingle to the spine and a tear to the eye. The dazzling technique and depth of feeling that defines this musical genre\, amplified to the third power\, is the hallmark of The Irish Tenors. \nTICKETS + INFO

NPR took note and declared “their music will keep classical music alive for the next generation.” Black Violin plays roughly 200 shows a year\, many of which are performances for young\, low-income students in urban communities. In the last year alone\, the group has played for over 100\,000 students with the goal of challenging stereotypes and preconceived notions of what a “classical musician” looks and sounds like. “It’s a unique thing that brings people together who aren’t usually in the same room\,” Baptiste said. “And in the current climate\, it’s good to bring people together.” \nTICKETS + INFO

SUMMARY:The Nerd
DESCRIPTION:An aspiring architect in Terre Haute\, Indiana\, Willum Cubbert often speaks of the debt he owes to Rick Steadman\, a fellow ex-GI whom he has never met but who saved his life after he was seriously wounded in Vietnam. He has written to Rick to say that\, as long as he is alive\, “you will have somebody on Earth who will do anything for you” — so Willum is delighted when Rick shows up unexpectedly at his apartment. But his delight soon fades as it becomes apparent that Rick is a hopeless “nerd” — a bumbling oaf with no social sense\, little intelligence\, and less tact. And Rick stays on and on\, his continued presence among Willum and his friends leading to one uproarious incident after another\, until the normally placid Willum finds himself contemplating violence — a dire development which\, happily\, is staved off by the surprising “twist” ending of the play. \nSix Performances:  \n\nJanuary 30 & 31 + February 6 & 7 at 7:30 p.m.\nFebruary 1 & 8 at 2:00 p.m.\n\nTickets: $32 - $34.
Come early and make your own wicked (or good) witch wand! \nYoung Dorothy Gale (Judy Garland) and her dog Toto are swept away by a tornado from their Kansas farm to the magical Land of Oz and embark on a quest with three new friends — the Scarecrow (Ray Bolger)\, the Tin Man (Jack Haley)\, and the Cowardly Lion (Bert Lahr) — to see the Wizard of Oz (Frank Morgan)\, who can return her to her home and fulfill the others' wishes. But in order to receive their wishes\, they must retrieve the broom of the Wicked Witch of the West (Margaret Hamilton). \nAdmission is free\, but reservations are strongly encouraged. \n(G\, 102 min.\, 1939) \nlearn more

Conceived by award-winning producer\, musician\, and songwriter Con Fullam\, Pihcintu unites voices from Cambodia\, Congo\, El Salvador\, Egypt\, Kenya\, Somalia\, Sudan\, Uganda\, Vietnam\, the British West Indies\, and many more\, along with girls whose families have lived in Maine for generations.
