SUMMARY:The Nerd
DESCRIPTION:An aspiring architect in Terre Haute\, Indiana\, Willum Cubbert often speaks of the debt he owes to Rick Steadman\, a fellow ex-GI whom he has never met but who saved his life after he was seriously wounded in Vietnam. He has written to Rick to say that\, as long as he is alive\, “you will have somebody on Earth who will do anything for you” — so Willum is delighted when Rick shows up unexpectedly at his apartment. But his delight soon fades as it becomes apparent that Rick is a hopeless “nerd” — a bumbling oaf with no social sense\, little intelligence\, and less tact. And Rick stays on and on\, his continued presence among Willum and his friends leading to one uproarious incident after another\, until the normally placid Willum finds himself contemplating violence — a dire development which\, happily\, is staved off by the surprising “twist” ending of the play. \nSix Performances:  \n\nJanuary 30 & 31 + February 6 & 7 at 7:30 p.m.\nFebruary 1 & 8 at 2:00 p.m.\n\nTickets: $32 - $34. This event is eligible for the Youth Arts Access Fund. \nmore info + tickets

SUMMARY:The Wizard of Oz

We are planning a free screening of the beloved 1939 family classic The Wizard of Oz at the Waterville Opera House to celebrate once we reach our goal. Come early and make your own wicked (or good) witch wand! \nYoung Dorothy Gale (Judy Garland) and her dog Toto are swept away by a tornado from their Kansas farm to the magical Land of Oz and embark on a quest with three new friends — the Scarecrow (Ray Bolger)\, the Tin Man (Jack Haley)\, and the Cowardly Lion (Bert Lahr) — to see the Wizard of Oz (Frank Morgan)\, who can return her to her home and fulfill the others' wishes. But in order to receive their wishes\, they must retrieve the broom of the Wicked Witch of the West (Margaret Hamilton). \nAdmission is free\, but reservations are strongly encouraged. \n(G\, 102 min.\, 1939) \nlearn more

SUMMARY:Pihcintu Multinational Girls Chorus
DESCRIPTION:War-torn villages\, refugee camps\, famine\, and political upheaval were once the daily reality for many of the young singers who would eventually find safety\, companionship\, and harmony within the Pihcintu Multinational Girls Chorus. Though the memory of danger and loss never fully disappears\, the healing power of music has helped these resilient young women learn to trust\, hope\, and laugh again. \nFounded in Portland\, Maine — an ever-growing hub for international resettlement — the chorus brings together girls from across the globe to sing as one. Conceived by award-winning producer\, musician\, and songwriter Con Fullam\, Pihcintu unites voices from Cambodia\, Congo\, El Salvador\, Egypt\, Kenya\, Somalia\, Sudan\, Uganda\, Vietnam\, the British West Indies\, and many more\, along with girls whose families have lived in Maine for generations. Their presence is transformative\, and their music touches the hearts of all who hear them. \nAdmission is free\, but reservations are required. \nLearn more + make reservations Watch + Listen on YouTube

SUMMARY:Tusk: The Classic Fleetwood Mac Tribute
DESCRIPTION:Date: Thursday\, October 23 at 7:30pm \nOrganization: Waterville Opera House \nVenue: Waterville Opera House\, 1 Common Street\, Waterville\, Maine \nThis event is eligible for the Youth Arts Access Fund. \nTusk: The World’s #1 Tribute to Fleetwood Mac \nTusk has been criss-crossing the country since 2008 as The Ultimate Fleetwood Mac Tribute. But of all the Fleetwood Mac tributes playing around the United States today\, what exactly sets Tusk apart? Is it more than five skilled professionals turned masters of their trade through decades of individual musical study\, live performance\, creative risk\, and devotion to the art? Is it more than their affection and respect for the Fleetwood Mac experience\, an entity that continues to endure over 50 years of musical and cultural evolution? Is it more than vocal similarities\, common physical traits\, or good costumes? To be sure\, one does not fare well in the tribute scene without displaying some or all of these characteristics. So what qualities does Tusk possess that can’t be learned\, bought\, or created simply from a desire to have them? Chemistry. Synergy. Intuition. \nThe relationship among the five founding members of Tusk has a rich history that goes back more than four decades. Two met while playing Little League baseball. Two others met in middle school band and marched in lockstep through high school. All five have been playing music with one another over the years in various configurations of original bands\, jam bands\, singer-songwriter circles\, and alternative rock groups. Time\, trust\, and close friendship have cultivated an intimate familiarity with each other’s musical nuances\, shaping each performance with such precision that even the slightest variation\, virtually imperceptible to all but the five musicians sharing the stage\, is met with a wink and a nod\, and usually an inside joke. Tusk is more than a band; they are a family. \nExperience the wonder of a Tusk show for yourself. \nTICKETS + INFO

SUMMARY:Trampled by Turtles
DESCRIPTION:Trampled By Turtles w/ Breakin' Strings \nDate: Saturday\, July 26 at 7:30pm \nOrganization: Waterville Opera House \nVenue: Waterville Opera House\, 1 Common Street\, Waterville\, Maine \nThis event is eligible for the Youth Arts Access Fund. \nFor this event\, the orchestra section is "General Admission".\nThe balcony is "Reserved Seating". \nTrampled by Turtles are from Duluth\, Minnesota\, where frontman Dave Simonett initially formed the group as a side project in 2003. At the time\, Simonett had lost most of his music gear\, thanks to a group of enterprising car thieves who'd ransacked his vehicle while he played a show with his previous band. Left with nothing more than an acoustic guitar\, he began piecing together a new band\, this time taking inspiration from bluegrass\, folk\, and other genres that didn't rely on amplification. \nSimonett hadn't played any bluegrass music before\, and he filled his lineup with other newcomers to the genre\, including fiddler Ryan Young (who'd previously played drums in a speed metal act) and bassist Tim Saxhaug. Along with mandolinist Erik Berry and banjo player Dave Carroll\, the group began carving out a fast\, frenetic sound that owed as much to rock & roll as bluegrass. \nThere crossover appeal has landed them on the #1 spot of Billboard’s Bluegrass Charts on every record they’ve released while playing marquee festivals like Coachella\, ACL Fest\, and Lollapalooza. Countless tours with diverse artists ranging Shakey Graves\, Zach Bryan\, Wilco\, Caamp\, Mt Joy\, Willie Nelson\, Avett Brothers\, Lord Huron and many more have followed solidifying a loyal fanbase. Their last full length album Alpenglow was produced by Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy. 2025 began with the band releasing a cover of Bon Iver’s From Emma with Caamp’s Taylor Meier (aka Sumbuck) on lead vocals. A few new collaborations are set to be announced in the coming weeks. \nMore Info and Tickets
