Arsenic in Water and Food: What Might it Mean for You?

20140916-dsc09912Arsenic is a known carcinogen that can also affect the cardiac, respiratory, neurological and immune systems. Private wells in New Hampshire and Maine can contain elevated levels of arsenic due to natural geological deposits. Dartmouth professor and chair of the department of biological sciences Dr. Kathy Cottingham will review current scientific understanding of low-level arsenic exposure, describe the studies contributing to this understanding, and recommend strategies to reduce exposures.
