REM did hold a REM Forum on early childhood education.  People came from all over the state of Maine from all levels of government and institutions of learning.  The Educare Center in Waterville is a high quality learning and development center partnering with families and communities to ensure school readiness for children birth to age five.

Project 2020, a community initiative (NOT REM's) dedicated to ensuring that 80% or Waterville 4th grade students read at or above proficiency level, is a coalition of community leaders addressing literacy issues.  Leadership of this project is very strong and your participation would be welcomed.  You can join on the Project 2020 website.
