Save A Seat Kickoff Reception

March 10, 2016, 6:00 PM8:00 PM

Free

The reception will take place in the cafeteria and auditorium.

Every year, Waterville High School students participate in some of the best band, chorus, drama, and strings productions in Central Maine. At the heart of these critical academic endeavors is the auditorium. But it isn't just for theater or music; nearly every student at WSHS has a reason to come to the auditorium — for assemblies, study hall, awards ceremonies, community home room, and many other events.

The auditorium has remained practically unchanged since 1961. It is testimony to the teachers and students that quality of the productions remains as high as it does, despite the many limitations they face.

The WSHS Auditorium Renovation Committee, a committee of parent volunteers, has been working hard to make the space more usable and more enjoyable. So far, we have raised money for new lights, curtains, and sound baffles, and Mid Maine Technical School students will soon renovate and expand the stage. Our next goal: more comfortable, OSHA-compliant seats. We hope to sell 700 seats. The cost is $250 for one or five for $1000 with a dedication on the chair arm.
