Walk With Me

One Night Only for PRIDE!

Post-film video discussion with director and cast.

In Isabela del Rosi’s beguiling coming-out film, comfortable New Yorker Amber Evans leaves her husband and so needs to find a new apartment. She finds that—and also something quite unexpected to her—an instant romantic charge with her real estate agent, Logan Pierce, who's also an amazing singer. Following Logan as she journeys on a tour and further into Amber's surprised heart, WALK WITH ME takes us winningly on Amber's journey along with her. Join us in discovering this truly independent new film as the director and cast members join us after the screening as well.

Saturday, June 4, 7:00 p.m.

$10.50 adults, $8.50 students + seniors

Shortbus

One Night Only for PRIDE!

Although quite explicit in its frequent sexual scenes, "the boldest provocation of director John Cameron Mitchell's sweet, tender and gently funny film may be its exuberant celebration of community and togetherness at a cultural moment rife with fatalism and disconnect"—Scott Foundas, L.A. Weekly. Shortbus is a spiffy NYC club in mid-2000s New York, where folks of all sexual persuasions come in search of love, lust, or an audience–or some combination of those. Shortbus remains "an ode to the joy and sweet release of sex [that] manages to be a sincere, modest political venture that finds humor where you might least likely expect it, notably in a menage à trois featuring a cheeky rendition of 'The Star-Spangled Banner'"—Manohla Dargis, New York Times.

This Is Not Me

One Night Only for PRIDE!

Iran is the only country in the Middle East to recognize trans people (any other LGBQ+ identity is banned). Both Shervin and Samar offer a glimpse into what life is like for trans youth, who—despite loving and supportive parents—are forced to live covert lives, shy away from their neighbors and even consider emigration in order to be who they truly are. One of the many heartrending scenes in this superb documentary features one of the boys, fully clothed on the beach and yearning to go swimming, while the other shouts at his parents, asking whether his father is also forced to wear a headscarf. This Is Not Me is a detailed depiction of a legal and social labyrinth that promises a slim aperture of freedom.

In Farsi with English subtitles.
