FreeEnjoy music from Waterville Public School students, including new songs written by the high school modern band classes with Songs From Here!
Songs From Here is an initiative intended to connect poets, composers, and performers in the beautiful state of Maine, to promote local talent and foster a greater sense of community across creative disciplines. An inaugural series of performances was given by pianist Bridget Convey and classical vocalist Sarah Tuttle during the summer and early fall of 2022. Their 2023 series of performances featuring two newly commissioned compositions by Erica Ball and John Newell.
Since their performance at Greene Block + Studios last November, Erica Ball and Sarah Tuttle have visited two modern band classes at Waterville High School to support students writing their own original songs. Waterville High School educators Sue Barre and Ciara Hargrove have led students through this process between guest artist visits, moving them from poems they wrote collaboratively through the songwriting process.
This concert will be kicked off by a select of performances from Waterville Public Schools Musical Moments, organized by Colin Wheatley.
Admission is free, but reservations are recommended.
