United Way of Kennebec Valley's 2024
Campaign Kickoff Breakfast!
Members of the press are invited to join United Way of Kennebec Valley (UWKV) for its Campaign Kickoff Breakfast on Sept. 12, from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at the Augusta Civic Center. This event officially launches UWKV's 2024 fundraising campaign. Campaign Co-Chairs TJ Smart of Milestone Funeral Partners and Kerry Smart of the Harold Alfond Institute for Business Innovation at Thomas College will discuss how UWKV is bringing attention to ALICE — those who are Asset Limited, Income Constrained, and Employed — and making their struggles UNIGNORABLE this year.
ALICE represents the 41% of Kennebec County households living below the ALICE Threshold, which is a modest, bare-minimum budget reflecting the cost of living in Maine.
The breakfast is expected to bring together more than 250 attendees, including representatives from local businesses, nonprofit organizations and community partners.
The event will also recognize 19 outstanding workplaces that have taken the lead as Pacesetters by completing their workplace campaigns ahead of the Kickoff.
