Art Kits For All: Youth Art Month And Faith Ringgold

March 25, 2021, 4:00 PM5:30 PM

Free

Youth Art Month (YAM) is a national celebration of arts education that highlights the importance of teaching visual arts in schools. This year’s theme is “Art Connects Us”. In this month’s art kit, we will create a group quilt inspired by artist Faith Ringgold, who used words to create patterns that she called “story quilts”. The kit contains material to make two works of art, one to keep and one to mail! A prepaid envelope will be provided to return one of your quilted creations to WC. We will combine all of the quilted submissions into a community group quilt. Posters of the group quilts will be distributed with April's art kit. We will post the quilts on WC’s social media channels and website. Books written by Faith Ringgold will be available for circulation at the Waterville Public Library. The first 100 art kits will also include the book Tar Beach by Faith Ringgold!

Distribution starts at 4:00 and will continue until 5:30, if supplies last.
