Bard’s Birthday Bash

The 9th annual Bard's Birthday Bash will be held on Saturday, April 23. We ask you to let us know if you are interested in dressing up and parading around Waterville reading sonnets, singing Shakespearean songs, and performing monologues and scenes. No memorizing or prior experience necessary.

We begin at 10 a.m. at Camden National Bank Lobby on Main Street, parade along the upper Concourse, cross over to Re-Books on the lower Concourse, go to Cancun by 11 a.m., where there will be a sword fight demonstration. Then on to places on Silver Street, parade up Main Street, stopping at stores and restaurants along the way. We will be at Jin Yuan Chinese Restaurant about noon to stop for lunch, and more sonnets including prerecorded and Zoom performances. Then on to Selah Tea from 3 to 5 p.m. with songs and flourish to finish readings of all 154 sonnets. Additionally, Sarah Love will be doing Renaissance fortune telling while there.

A Renaissance Masquerade Ball will take place from 7 to 8:30 that evening in the Lutheran Church Hall on Cool Street. Open to all ages, simple dances will be taught and led by Dancemistress Margaret May Lambert. No partner necessary. Come costumed, with a masquerade mask, or just as you are.

The entire day is free of charge! Open to all ages and skills!

If you would like to read a sonnet, get involved for all or part of the day, please call Lyn at 314-4730. Each reader may introduce themselves, and briefly promote their business or organization, if they chose to. You may request your sonnet numbers in advance, but you don't need to memorize them.
