BIBLICAL ARCHEOLOGY - THE BIBLE'S BURIED SECRETS
Dr. Steven W. Mann will be showing and moderating a discussion of the 2008 PBS NOVA documentary called "The Bible's Buried Secrets" on Sunday August 12th from 6:00PM - 8:30PM at the Waterville UCC. This program presents recent mainstream archeological scholarship, including discussions from world renowned archeologists and biblical scholars. It is a fascinating exploration of the beginnings of modern religion and the origins of the Hebrew Bible and the Christian Old Testament. This archeological detective story discusses some of the most interesting questions in biblical studies: Where did the ancient Israelites come from? Who wrote the Hebrew Bible - when, where, and why? How did monotheism emerge and become the foundation of three great world religions - Judaism, Christianity, and Islam?
