A special service will be offered on Friday, December 22, 4 p.m., at Pleasant Street UMC. The name of this service comes from the season — Dec. 22 is actually the longest night of the year. But the name, “Longest Night”, also describes the feeling that a number of people have during this season. In these long, dark, winter nights, memories of past experiences and the pain of present experiences and situations can become overwhelming, especially if a “joyous holiday season” seems not to be possible this year. In this service, we invite you to listen. We invite you to pray. We invite you to sing — or not. We invite you to meditate upon the sadness or struggles you may be facing — and we will worship together in special ways. And we trust that you will find hope and comfort in knowing that you are not alone.
