Union Coffeehouse: Buttermilk Hill Band

August 19, 2023, 6:30 PM

Update (8/18): The weather for tomorrow night's Coffeehouse on the Village Green is not looking good so we are moving the concert back into the Union Church Friendship Hall. The headlining act will be the Buttermilk Hill Band comprised of John and Ellen Gawler, and Stu McConnell. The Coffeehouse will start earlier at 6:30 PM so reset your alarms to ensure you won't be late. Be sure to stay for the Open Mic performers that will follow the Buttermilk Hill Band. See you tomorrow night at the Union Church of Belgrade Lakes.

Our season-ending Union Coffeehouse will be a Coffeehouse on the Village Green. It will feature a rousing concert by the Buttermilk Hill Band comprised of John and Ellen Gawler, and Stu McConnell. They will bring us an assortment of old and new sounds from many folk traditions. The Buttermilk Hill Band will accompany interweaving harmonies with fiddles, banjo, wooden banjo, button accordion and guitar, as well as a few surprises. Whether they are crooning a poignant ballad or delivering a rollicking fiddle tune, their unique arrangements are especially engaging and often go along with anecdotes of historical or humorous content. With their infectious spirit and sparkling musicianship, the Buttermilk Hill Band has earned a beloved place in the delighted hearts of varied audiences throughout Maine.

Please show your support for this wonderful community outreach program by coming to the Coffeehouse on the Village Green and bringing your friends. The concert will begin at 6:30 PM (note the earlier time) with the featured performers starting the show. Since we will be outside, please bring your own chairs and refreshments. Be sure to stay for the serendipitous group of performers who show up for the Open Mic time immediately following the Buttermilk Hill Band. We look forward to seeing you as we close out the 17th year of the Union Coffeehouse. (In case of rain, the Coffeehouse will be held in the Union Church's Friendship Hall.)
