An event every day that begins at 10:00 AM, repeating until April 20, 2019

Everyone, especially curious children, has burning questions about our universe. How hot is the sun? How do we find out what conditions are like on distant planets? Some answers are known by scientists; some are hypotheses backed by solid evidence and observations; some remain complete mysteries.

The historic L. C. Bates Museum at Good Will-Hinckley hopes to inspire a thirst for knowledge in the next generation of astronomers, and provide budding scientific minds with the strategies they will need to answer such questions for themselves.

The Museum is proud to announce its third annual Earth & Space Days event on Friday AND Saturday, April 19 and 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. With activities generously provided by the National Informal STEM Education Network (NISE Net), kids will explore sometimes difficult scientific concepts in fun & accessible ways. From building stomp rockets to study our upper atmosphere, to creating impact craters on the moon, to planning out the route of a blindfolded “Mars Rover” through obstacles, every activity either imitates a natural process, or models the tools used by NASA scientists to explore & understand the cosmos.

In addition, several Galileoscopes will be on hand, to help curious astronomers understand the construction behind a simple refractor telescope just like the one invented by Galileo himself four hundred years ago.

Over a dozen activities and games will remain set up throughout the day, with museum educators on hand to guide visitors and answer questions. Visit any time during Earth & Space Days, and nourish your child’s fascination with our wonderful universe, and our unique place in it!

Admission: $3 for adults, $1 for children.
