Forgotten Peoples

April 9, 2022, 7:30 PM

Free

Directed by Eric Christopher Perry, the Colby College Collegium’s debut at Greene Block + Studios in downtown Waterville explores repertory from Estonian composers performed or premiered at the end of the Cold War. The program comprises popular, folk, and nationalistic vocal music from Estonia’s “Singing Revolution,” a historic, non-violent protest of occupation by the former Soviet Union. It features selections from Veljo Tormis, Ester Mägi, and the centerpiece, Arvo Pärt’s chilling Berliner Messe for choir and chamber orchestra.

A Freedom and Captivity Humanities Themed Event.
