Chris Asch and the New Mainers Project

$12The Capital Area New Mainers Project is a cross-cultural organization that welcomes immigrants and works to create a thriving, integrated, multicultural community in central Maine. Based in Augusta, CANMP cultivates personal relationships between New Mainers and "old" Mainers, meets immigrant needs, and educates the broader community about the challenges that immigrants face and the benefits they bring to our area.
Chris Myers Asch serves as CANMP's Executive Director. A native of Washington, D.C., Chris teaches history part-time at Colby College and is the author most recently of Chocolate City: A History of Race and Democracy in the Nation's Capital. He and his wife live in Hallowell and have three children. One or more new Mainers will also be part of the program.
Optional lunch for $12 is served starting at 11:30 and is provided by Jorgensen's: Sandwich choices: 1) Roast beef, with Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion and on wheat bread 2) Pesto chicken wrap, with lettuce, cukes, and red onions 3) vegetarian: avocado spread, lettuce, tomato, cukes, red onions, green peppers on a spinach wrap. Served with Hungarian mushroom soup, coffee, tea and a cookie! Of course you are welcome to bring your own lunch.
