Libby Roderick in Concert

May 19, 2018, 7:00 PM

$25

We are happy to welcome Libby Roderick for our next UU Coffeehouse The concert will take place in our beautiful, historic church sanctuary. Refreshments and Libby's CDs will be available for purchase. We look forward to loving Libby's music in your good company.

A lifelong Alaskan, Libby Roderick has toured North America for over 25 years in support of social justice and environmental causes, performing alongside Coretta Scott King, Grammy winners Janis Ian and Dave Van Ronk, and many others. Roderick’ song “Dig Down Deep” was played by NASA to inspire the robot “Spirit” in its search for water on the Mars. Music from her seven recordings has been featured on CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360, CBS’s 60 Minutes, at the U.N. Conference on Women in Beijing, China, in the New York Times and Hindustani Times, and in many books (including Hometown, by Pulitzer Prize-winner Tracy Kidder) and movies. Her folk classic “How Could Anyone” has become a global anthem for citizen groups around the world.

A Phi Beta Kappa, summa cum laude graduate of Yale University, Roderick is also the Director of the Difficult Dialogues Initiative at the University of Alaska Anchorage, where she works with faculty in Alaska, the U.S., and South Africa to increase their capacity to effectively conduct difficult dialogues in higher education and to adopt indigenous ways of teaching. She is the editor and co-author of a number of books speaking to these issues.
