After his family moves from Tokyo to a tiny fishing village, enthusiastic songwriter Kai is constantly sulking. His classmates, hoping to cheer him up, invite him to play keyboard in their band. Their practice sessions bring in Lu, a young mermaid feeling the groove with singing skills that make people break out into dance...sometimes against their will. A bond begins to form between Kai and Lu, and as the two grow closer Kai finds himself opening up to her. The rest of the village, however, believe the ancient myths that mermaids are signs of great danger, and as the villagers confront Lu the town finds itself on the cusp of disaster.
