When a person is bad, that person has to be taught a lesson!

Matilda (Mara Wilson), a six year old genius, is neglected by her parents (Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman)—and when she’s not neglected, she’s mistreated. She finds escape from her thoroughly unenjoyable home life in books, reading as many as she can from the public library. After being admitted to Crunchem Hall Elementary School, Matilda finds herself subjected to a new nightmare existence courtesy of the tyrannical Agatha Trunchbull (Pam Ferris), a principal who enjoys nothing more than making children miserable. As Matilda becomes friends with Miss Honey (Embeth Davidtz), a kind teacher with a shocking and sad past, she begins to develop mysterious powers. Harnessing these new abilities, Matilda stands up to Miss Trunchbull and her parents in an effort to protect Miss Honey and her classmates and right the wrongs committed by bad adults. Based on the book by Roald Dahl, Matilda is a wonderful lesson for audiences of all ages that anyone can do the right thing, no matter how small you are.
