Museum of Art Fall Open House

FreeJoin the Colby College Museum of Art for our Fall Open House, an art-tastic evening of gallery tours, art projects, food and drink, and more.
We’re celebrating our current on-campus museum exhibitions—Painted: Our Bodies, Hearts, and Village, Whistler: Streetscapes, Urban Change, Constellations: Forming the Collection, 1973–2023, Come Closer: Selections from the Collection, 1978–1994, and Alex Katz: Repetitions.
This all ages gathering is free and open to all.
Activities
In the William D. Adams Gallery (lobby)
- Refreshments, including catered food and alcoholic beverages for ages 21+
- Create your own Streetscapes Scenes with watercolors, inspired by the prints and drawings in our Whistler: Streetscapes, Urban Change exhibition
- Pick up an array of looking activities to spark conversation, laughter, and reflection in the galleries
- Sign up for a raffle of downtown business gift certificates and museum catalogues of your choice
In the Galleries:
- Music with the Megs, a Colby student a cappella group, at 5 and 6:15, Lower Jetté Galleries (lower level)
- Watch a beading demonstration, and talk with the artist, Christiana Becker, in our Painted: Our Bodies, Hearts, and Village exhibition space. Becker is a descendent of the Penobscot Nation. 5-7 pm, the Lunder Wing (lower level)
- Pick up a free sketchbook, and spend time drawing and writing in Come Closer: Selections from the Collection, 1978-1994. 5-7 pm, Lower Jetté
- Join a short exhibition tour and meet some of our new curatorial staff
- 5:15 pm: Highlights Tour in Whistler: Streetscapes, Urban Change, with Elisa Germán, Lunder Curator of Works on Paper and Whistler Studies. Meet in Davis Gallery (entrance level)
- 5:45 pm: Highlights Tour in Constellations: Forming the Collection, 1973–2023 and Come Closer: Selections from the Collection, 1978–1994, with Sarah Humphreville, Lunder Curator of American Art. Meet in Upper Jetté Galleries (entrance level)
- 6:30 pm: Highlights Tour in Painted: Our Bodies, Hearts, and Village, with Siera Hyte, Manager of Programs and Fellowships at the Lunder Institute for American Art. Meet in Gladys Brooks Foundation Gallery (lower level)
