Richard III

Now is the winter of our discontent..." begins the last of Shakespeare’s histories. This tragedy leads to the tyrannical and murderous ascent of Richard III to England's crown during the War of the Roses. Richard plots his way to the top by cunning marriages, murders in his closest circle, and the slaughter of his own relatives.  Their ghosts haunt Richard into the depths of insanity. Only the former queens can see the eventual outcome and even in their grief they persevere to see the end of the wars and the beginning of the new Tudor Dynasty, as Richard cries in vain "a horse, my kingdom for a horse."

A full cast of all ages is directed by Shana Page with original theme music by Joshua Bickford, and fight choreography by Josh Fournier. The deeply emotional portrayal of the egomaniacal tyrant by Murray Herard, is rounded out with performances by Margaret Mae Lambert as mad Queen Margaret,  Sara Wing as stalwart Queen Elizabeth, Tasha Jencks-Ayres as the piteous Queen Anne, Tammy Werber as the loyal yet doomed Lord Buckingham, and Ben Keene as the heroic Henry Tudor.

An exciting new venue has opened and RSC is pleased and honored to be the first troupe to perform at the new Playhouse at Waterville Station (formerly Railroad Square Cinema) in Waterville, on  Saturday, February 24. Former Aqua City Actors Theater board member, Randy Jones, purchased it for ACAT to use. They will run it with the purpose of collaborating with other theater companies and performers so smaller theaters have a space. It is not even fully operational yet but ACAT board member and actor in this production, Ben Keene, coordinated this effort.

On Sunday, February 25, RSC will be on stage at the beautiful South Parish Congregational Church, 9 Church Street, Augusta. Concessions will be available.

Doors open at 6:30 pm with all shows at 7:00. They are free and accessible to the public.
