- September 2: Bills and Beaks Tell What They Eat
- Put on your wildlife biologist cap, and hone your observational skills, as we follow the clues we find in various birds’ beaks to learn about their lifestyles and behavior. Why do hummingbirds have long, skinny beaks, while the Red Crossbill has a unique, asymmetrical beak? Plus, make a bird craft to take home!
- September 9: Endangered Animals Tour
- In this guided tour, we will highlight some of the endangered, threatened and an extinct species found in the museum’s collection. We also, happily, get to talk about some species that have made remarkable recoveries thanks to recent conservation efforts!
- September 16: NISE Earth and Space Activities
- Explore Earth and Space activity kits and materials developed and donated to many museums, including the L.C. Bates, by NISE. Try making clouds, learn about craters, moon quakes, light pollution and more. And, Send up a stomp rocket.
- September 23: Old Time Toys
- Try toys and games from the early 1900’s. Make and spin a top toy, look through a stereopticon, roll a hoop, play Graces, draw with a slate pencil on a slate board and more. Come see what were popular activities with children 100 years ago.
All programs start at 10:00 a.m.
Admission: $4 for adults, $1 for children.
